Is Proxmox actually "Enterprise Ready"?

Yes! It is a myth that Proxmox VE is "just a home-lab tool", commonly pushed by vendors who are shaking in their boots about losing their licensing revenue. Proxmox VE uses KVM (Kernel-based Virtual Machine) under the hood, an Enterprise scale, battle tested technology. Combine that with ZFS and Ceph storage, plus High Availability (HA) clustering, and you replace those limiting vendor products comprehensively. PVE is built for mission critical workloads, and we have the production track record since 2013 to prove it.

What happens to the servers we already own?

You use them with Proxmox instead. Since 2013 we have not once seen anything in the Proxmox ecosystem force any hardware to be obsolete because of some sort of update requirement. For example we still run Dell R720's in some of our Proxmox VE clusters and they get loads of work done! Proxmox VE enables you to scale how you want to, adding servers, replacing existing ones, when YOU want to. That can even include consumer grade hardware such as AMD Ryzen CPUs, which we actually use for our Gaming At-Event Proxmox VE and Kubernetes clusters!

How painful is the migration from VMware or Hyper-V?

Compared to your next Broadcom invoice? A cakewalk. There are multiple paths for migrating your Virtual Machines and other data. The User Experience for Proxmox VE is great and built for humans.
